Poetic Insights into the Gita – 6

Scriptures, right and wrong thinking

Scriptures contain injunctions righteous

What to do and not to do, for life pious

Heaven, hell as post-death dwelling

Deeds righteous or sinful, according

Injunctions confusing for worldly

Situations many, different personally

For god conscious, desireless

All his actions totally selfless

Scriptural injunctions of no use to him

Guiding all the time is Divine in him

Right and unambiguous is his thinking

Mentally upsetting is worldly thinking

Vedas talk of three gunas fundamental

Rajas and tamas focused on physical

Seeker shuns knowledge of physical

Takes only that of sattva, the spiritual

To the physical world, one transcendental

No more does he need knowledge scriptural
